The Fort Wayne Komets avoided elimination last night with a 4-2 win over the Port Huron Icehawks in Fort Wayne. Tab Lardner and Jeff Zehr scored goals for Port Huron, who still lead the Turner Cup Finals 3-2. Game six is at McMorran Arena on Saturday night. An Icehawks win would bring the Cup back to Port Huron for the first time in 36 years. A Komets win would force game seven in Fort Wayne on Monday.
The Red Wings scored three power play goals and beat the Dallas Stars 4-1 last night to take game one of the Western Conference Finals. Game two is in Detroit on Saturday night.
The Tigers lost to the Boston Red Sox 5-1 last night and dropped three of four to the Sox this week. Detroit will host the Yankees tonight at Comerica Park in the first game of a three game set.
The Pistons are in Orlando tomorrow night for game four of their playoff series. Detroit leads 2-1.
